The Amazon rainforest is still on fire. I find it actually mad how this is not a high priority case to get sorted. This is an easy standpoint for someone on the outside to have. I try to place myself in the shoes of the people of Brazil living close to the Amazon. They see this land as an opportunity to grow their economy and you can't help to see their reasoning why. Who wouldn’t want to create a better economy for you and your family and future generations to come?

There are many factors that are causing forest fires such as global warming. But a big driving force in the case of the Amazon Rainforest is the demand for land to farm cattle. South America is one of the largest exporters of beef in the world. It's this demand which is fuelling the antics of the arsonists who are torching down the Amazon. These lands are legally protected but with no one there to enforce these laws the forests are exposed.

However I see the Amazon rainforest nothing short of sacred. With this ancient forest comes a massive amount of bio diversity. Plant's we could potentially benefit from medicinally and species who are endangered and need protecting.
